The Saut Down Syndrome Association launched the "Saut Bag" project with strategic support from the King Khalid Foundation and the support of two local banks, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Badr bin Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz, Treasurer of the association's board of directors, and representatives of the supporting entities, at the association's headquarters in Riyadh.
Her Highness explained that the Saut Bag project aims to educate and assist families of people with Down syndrome across the Kingdom, from birth to age two, in understanding some of the difficulties their children may encounter during language acquisition. She noted that the project helps families learn techniques and methods that develop the daily skills of people with Down syndrome and contribute to building a bright future for them. The guide includes 97 instructional videos produced by the association.
For her part, the association's Director of Communications and Membership, Manal Al-Habdan, introduced the association and its achievements and presented the contents of the bag. The launch ceremony concluded with Princess Basma bint Badr honoring the supporting entities (King Khalid Foundation, Bank AlJazira, and SABB).
This was followed by a workshop for "Mothers of Newborns with Down Syndrome," aimed at preparing, supporting, and assisting mothers of children with Down syndrome and those who expect to give birth to a child with Down syndrome.
The workshop covered an introduction to Down syndrome and the early intervention program and its importance, the specialties responsible for its implementation (physical therapist, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, and physician) and their roles, as well as support strategies from birth, how children with Down syndrome learn, breastfeeding, and the child's positioning during feeding.
