The Haring Center for Inclusive Education is a research and educational centre at the University of Washington (UW), founded by Professor Norris Haring and his wife Dorothy. A Historical Achievement Worth Knowing

In 1967, the centre's researchers developed the first model programme for children with Down syndrome, proving they benefit from early intervention. Its results demonstrated that these children could read at levels surpassing their age expectations. In the early 1980s, graduates of the centre's programmes were the first to enrol in inclusive classrooms alongside their peers in Seattle public schools.
